An IDE (integrated order electronics) to SATA converter leave a connection enter a hard order or disc order and the motherboard. The converter leave SATA Orders to be connected to the IDE port on the motherboard, or IDE Orders to be connected to SATA ports on the motherboard. Step 1 Unplug the computer to to reduce the risk of élém. élect. shock. Step 2 Unscrew the conservation screws that catch the side panels of the computer to the rest of the case, and set they aside. to remove the case side panel. Step 3 Connect the IDE to SATA converter in the IDE drive. One side of the converter has SATA connectors, and the other side has a 40-pin IDE connector. The 40-pin IDE connector side would have be firmly inserted in the back of the IDE drive. Step 4 Connect the 4-pin Flexible power cable of the power provisioning unit to the back of the IDE to SATA converter. The 4-pin Flexible power cable is white and about half the cut of the rest of the connectors. Step 5 Connect an SATA cable of the back of the IDE to SATA converter to the motherboard. Step 6 Complete the installation by replacement the computer's side panel and tightening the conservation screws.
